Is this the official DVLA car tax calculator?
No. Car Facts UK provides a VED estimate using returned vehicle data and published UK road-tax rules. Always confirm the final payable amount with DVLA before taxing a vehicle.
How is monthly car tax calculated?
Car Facts UK uses the published Direct Debit amount for the applicable VED schedule. The calculator does not invent the monthly figure from a generic annual percentage.
How is the expensive-car supplement assessed?
For relevant post-2017 cars, Car Facts UK uses DVLA's vehicle-specific Additional Rate of Tax record and end date. If that period ends during the assessed licence, the calculator will not invent DVLA's part-year adjustment.
Can I check car tax by registration number?
Yes. Enter a UK registration and the calculator uses official DVLA vehicle data with the applicable published VED rate table to estimate the available payment options.
