Common questions

Quick answers

Is the free vehicle check enough before buying?

The free check is useful for basic vehicle identity, MOT and tax information. A paid report is more suitable when you need deeper history evidence such as finance, write-off, stolen, recall and other paid-provider data where available.

What happens if a paid report cannot be generated?

Stripe may place a temporary authorisation on your card while the registration and report availability are checked. If the report cannot be generated, that authorisation is released; if a payment has already completed, it is refunded in full. Car Facts UK keeps no payment when no report is produced.

How does WhatsApp report sharing work?

Paid vehicle reports and Compare reports can be shared using the available secure WhatsApp sharing option. A temporary secure link is created for the authorised report and expires after 48 hours.

Can someone using my shared link access my dashboard?

No. A secure shared link opens only the report authorised by its temporary token. It does not sign the recipient into your account or reveal the rest of your dashboard.

What can I do from the dashboard?

Signed-in customers can open reports linked to their account, view and redeem unused report credits, manage vehicles in My Garage and use Reminder Centre for MOT and vehicle-tax email reminders.

How do guest bundle credits reach my dashboard?

Create an account or sign in using the same email address used at checkout. Remaining guest bundle credits can then be attached to that signed-in dashboard.

How long is paid report data available?

Paid provider data is available for 7 days, then removed under provider terms and the retention policy. MOT and tax data may be retained separately where needed for enabled reminder features.
